Description
Photograph of the site of the Valencia Hotel, showing people searching for buried dead in the earthquake damage, San Francisco, 1906. A road at center is crowded with people while one man in a fine suit and hat walks towards the foreground on the left. Debris blankets the left side where the hotel once stood. Now a large group sifts through the pieces looking for lost people. More people can be seen searching through the rubble on the right. Trees still stand in the background along with the electrical poles which line the street on either side.
