A section of the Reinhold Industries building, a Santa Fe Springs industrial plant located at 12827 E. Imperial Highway, lay in ruin after an explosion ripped through the plant. Two persons were killed and five were injured while workers were installing a high-pressure molding machine. Carbon dioxide gas exploded, tearing off part of the roof.
Photograph caption dated October 11, 1989 reads, "Reduced to rubble: Fire and police officials inspect industrial plant in Santa Fe Springs after powerful blast blew roof off building."
