Alice Bird Ridge was born in Cherokee Nation in 1849 to John Rollins Ridge (son of Cherokee chief John Ridge) and Elizabeth (Wilson) Ridge. Joined her father in Grass Valley in 1866, marrying Frank G. Beatty in 1871. Was accomplished musician. She died in 1912.
