Description
Detailed aerial view looking south showing Tom's Place cafe at left on Ocean Front and the Peterson & Smith Bathhouse and the Rendezvous Ballroom along Strand Street on Crystal Beach in Santa Monica, California.
Glass broken and taped as received. Title devised by cataloger; date devised by cataloger based on year the Rendezvous Ballroom opened. Crystal Beach was halfway between Santa Monica and Ocean Park and was the precursor to Muscle Beach in early 1930s. Street shown in front of Rendezvous Ballroom was Strand Street, which was located north of Bristol Pier, later named Crystal pier, at the end of Hollister Avenue.
