Description
The façade of the English Gothic-style First Baptist Church at 2324 L St. is captured in this Jan. 16, 1929 photograph. The real estate for the structure was purchased in the spring of 1924, while the church itself was dedicated in the spring of 1929. Completed for $163,000 by the Sacramento contracting firm of Clarence J. Hopkinson, the brick building had dimensions of 110 by 121 feet, with a steeple that would reach 65 feet high. It was designed by Stockton architect Ivan C. Satterlee.
