Photograph caption dated December 25, 1958 reads, "Valley Junior College's great star, Billy Wold, will be leading his Monarch teammates in the Sam Barry Invitational basketball tournament that starts tomorrow at Glendale City College. Monarchs, winner of 10 games and the Bakersfield invitational, are one of the favorites to bag the Sam Barry."
