Description
View 1 is of an unidentified artist doing a large painting of a yacht. He wears a tan smock and cap and is holding a square paint palette in his left hand and a paintbrush in his right hand. This photo was labeled 'painting of the presidential yacht', but it is unclear if this is a model of an actual private presidential yacht, or just the artists' rendering. Historically, presidential yachts such as the USS Dolphin (1891-1895), USS Mayflower (1929), USS Sequoia (1933-1936), USS Potomac (1936-1945), and USS Williamsburg (1945-1953) have been much larger vessels than the one seen in this painting.
