Photograph article dated April 22, 1963 reads, "Bulldozers and other equipment keep moving in the foothills of Burbank as work on the relocation of Country Club Dr. continues. The street will be relocated to make way for construction of Sunset Flood Control Channel and Debris Basin as part of Burbank Eastern Flood Control System. Burbank is supervising relocation of the street on behalf of the County Flood Control District, while the district and the Army Corps of Engineers will supervise work on the channel and basin. The entire project will exceed $3 million. The first picture, above left, shows a bulldozer beginning to prepare for the new Country Club Dr., while the adjoining photo, shows a demolished house on the right and the new Country Club Dr. on the left. The existing street will be used as an entry road to the Debris Basin. The photo on the right shows the beginning of a massive retaining wall. The new Country Club Dr. will run to the right of the wall and will be fringed by another retaining wall."; See images #00118316 through #00118318 for all photos in this series.
