Aly Khan, known by his full title Prince Ali Solomone Aga Khan was the son of Aga Khan III, the head of the Ismaili Muslims. Aly was a wealthy international playboy who served as a Pakistani diplomat to the United Nations but is best known in California for being married to Rita Hayward from 1949-1953.
Photograph caption dated April 8, 1954 reads, "Royal outfitter. Frank Kandelin, owner of Valley Western Shop, outfitted Prince Aly Khan with elaborate cowboy costume when prince paid surprise visit to Valley to prepare for wide open spaces. Kandelin sold him $200 worth of shirts, trousers and boots. He came alone and left by taxi."
