Description
This 1985 photograph shows the William Coleman Fountain in Cesar Chavez Plaza. Costing $30,000, and dedicated to William by his wife, Florence, the fountain shows three women each symbolizing the rivers of Sacramento: American, Sacramento, and Feather. Amanda Austin was originally chose by Florence to sculpt the fountain in 1916, but died a year later. The fountain would be sculpted a decade later by Ralph Stackpole.
