Photograph article dated November 14, 1949 partially reads, "Four Valley residents who leaped into the ocean off Santa Monica when their 20-foot pleasure cruiser exploded and burned are recuperating at their Van Nuys homes today. They are Lee Fletchall, 50, and his wife, Fern, 45; their son, Bob Fletchall, 24, and his wife, Betty, 23. The older Fletchalls live at 6508 1/2 Hazeltine Ave., and the younger couple at 6512 Hazeltine Ave. They took to the sea two miles from Santa Monica when a short circuit in the bilge ignited gasoline fumes in their cruiser, Bob-O-Lee, yesterday. A nearby fishing boat picked them up as they trod water in their life jackets shortly after their craft exploded." Pictured, left to right, Mrs. and Mr. Lee Fletchall, and their son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Betty.
