Description
“Another case being carried.” Landscape view showing a stretchered patient being carried over a river. The carriers are part of the Fitzcol that had just seen action at Namirrue and suffered a number of casualties. Capt. Irvine was a medical officer attached to the column to care for the men of the Carrier Corps. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
