Photograph caption dated October 2, 1957 reads "Charles Robert 'The Traveler' Speedie, 51, confers with Atty. John M. Coleman, left, in Van Nuys Municipal Court shortly before he pleaded guilty to five counts of forgery. He has been ordered held to answer Tuesday in Superior Court. Speedie, who police say was nation's No. 1 bad check artist, is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail."
