Description
Photograph of the drawing "Aus Dem Oberen Stradtheel Don L.A." depicting upper Hill Street in Los Angeles, ca.1870. The residential area seems to be shown, with a farm tract shown to the right, its barn and silos in the distance behind some tree cover to the far side of a post-and-rail fence. To the left, on the interior side of a picket fence, the non-farm housing begins, stretching outward towards the mountains on the horizon. Two individuals can be seen standing in the field at the left, where an outhouse can be seen in the foreground. Horse-drawn carriages navigate the unpaved street.
