Studio portrait of Albert Gallatin Toomes. Albert Gallatin Toomes. Born in Missouri. Dec 25, 1817. Came to California from New Mexico in 1841 with workman-Rowland party. He and R.H. Thomas worked as pastuers and builders at San Francisco for a short time and at Monterey in 1843. He married a native Californian, Maria Isabel Lorenzana on Jan 14, 1844 at Monterey. She was born in 1822 and died in Tehema on Jan. 5, 1878. The left no children. On Dec. 20, 1844. He was grandted the Rancho Rio de los Molinos, containing 22,177 acres extending from Dye Creek almost to Vina.
