Photograph caption dated January 1, 1955 reads, "Majorettes, standard bearer, drum major and musicians of Burbank High School band step into snappy formation of large letter B to thrill hundreds of thousands along Pasadena Rose Parade route. Musicians wore coats of electric blue with white epaulets and cuffs with pockets trimmed in gold, white belts, white citation cords and blue caps trimmed in gold braid. Norbet Duarte is director. Many parents journeyed to Pasadena to watch youngsters parade; others stayed home to watch their television appearance. Today marked group's first invitation to march in annual parade. Head majorette of band is 15-year-old Bette Bestland, red-haired junior."
