Description
Photograph of the painting "In the Valley of the Shadow of Death" by Riviere, depicting a knight on a horse tumbling toward a prostrate woman, [s.d.]. At center, the woman in the foreground is seated on the ground, leaning back on her left arm as though she's fallen while she raises a flower in front of her with her free hand. She appears to be within the brick confines of a formal garden, while just in front of her outstretched arm, a young knight leans back carelessly on his diving horse, his sword at his side. To his left, a coyote or wolf has an arrow in its side and it snarls at the jackrabbit which pursues it. Farther back, a host of beasts makes its way down the mountain. In the righthand side of the sky, two angels appear to be fallilng from the heavens.
