Description
Victor R. Gold, Sr (1924-2008) graduated from Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, in 1945, and attended Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Divinity degree in 1946. He received his doctoral degree in Old Testament studies from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD in 1951. He served congregations in Texas, Maryland and Michigan as pastor prior to coming to Berkeley to teach at the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union. He retired after some 50 years of teaching. A noted scholar of the Old Testament, Dr Gold wrote for the Oxford Annotated Bible, and has more than 200 entries in the Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible.
