Opposition to a Federal housing program on the grounds that it would lead to socialized construction of all kinds was voiced yesterday by Rep. Charles K. Fletcher of San Diego (seated at left) at the conclusion of a two-day hearing on the housing shortage held in the Federal Building. Rep. Fletcher is chairman of one of a number of joint Senate-House subcommittees, which have been holding hearings in 33 communities throughout the country to obtain information on which to base Federal legislation designed to solve the housing problem. Among the witnesses at the concluding session of the hearing was Mayor Fletcher Bowron (right). Photograph dated November 11, 1947.
