Photograph article dated February 17, 1962 partially reads, "A San Fernando group proposed Friday that part of the city's business district should be remodeled into a turn-of-the-century main street as a tourist attraction. Under the plan, Maclay street between First and Second streets would be blocked off and turned into a 'Heritage Lane' with two renovated 50-year-old hotels as top attractions. The recommendation was received enthusiastically be the city's Economic Development Committee headed by Dr. Sigmund Miller, San Fernando optometrist...'The landlords are the key to the whole project,' he said, explaining that if the owners of the two hotels, the El Rey and the San Fernando, agree to the plan, 'the rest will be easy.'"
