Description
The O'Shaughnessy Building (59 Throckmorton Avenue) was built in 1893 and has remained basically the same (as of 2015). It was once the Aloha Hotel, also the Purity Grocery store. During World War II, the Sausalito Shipyards leased the upper floor for $65 a month for employee housing. Michael O'Shaughnessy, surveyor and engineer for the Tamalpais Land and Water Company, built this building. Later he became the engineer for the city of San Francisco and the Hetch-Hetchy Dam.
