Description: This circa 1915 postcard features the Mater Misercordiae Hospital, the first private hospital in Sacramento. The Sisters of Mercy, a group of nuns tracing their origins to Ireland in 1831, founded this hospital at Twenty-Third and R Streets in 1897.
