Description
The Smoke Signal of the Federated Indians of California was a newspaper edited and published by the Federated Indians of California from 1947 to 1977. Marie Mason Potts was the editor of the paper for its three decades of publication. The paper was published as an alternative news source to the mainstream coverage of the civil rights demonstration of Native American groups. This issue provides a report from Washington D.C. concerning the litigation between the Federated Indians of California and the U.S. government over the 1958 Congressional Act.
