Valley Times TODAY article dated November 29, 1961 partially reads, "Addressing more than 300 at a community dinner in North Hollywood, Brown [center] said many people do not bother reading about day-to-day affairs of California government. The non-partisan testimonial banquet at Hody's Restaurant was sponsored by committees from North Hollywood, Burbank, Antelope Valley, Newhall-Saugus, Pacoima, Sunland-Tujunga, Sun Valley and Van Nuys. First District Councilman Everett G. Burkhalter [right] served as general chairman and civic leader Martin Pollard as vice chairman. Guests included Congressman James C. Corman (D-22nd Dist.); Jesse M. Unruh, speaker of the California assembly; Valley Assemblymen Lou Cusanovich [left] and Tom Carrell; and Valley Councilmen Ernani Bernardi and Lemoine Blanchard."
