Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated August 7, 1986 reads, "Marchers in South Central Los Angeles show their support for a Church of Scientology protest of a court ruling awarding a former church member $30 million in damages. More than 1,000 people - including Scientologists and supporters from the Solid Front, a coalition of 600 churches in L.A., participated in a 13-mile march from Watts to the L.A. County Superior Court building downtown. The marchers also protested "a growing number of similar cases" involving large damage suits against churches, which they view as attacks on religious freedom. Last month, a Superior Court jury awarded damages against the Church of Scientology to Larry Wollersheim who claimed his 11-year church membership left him emotionally and financially ruined."
