Description
Photograph of the exterior view the Los Angeles School of Art and Design, ca.1905. The four-story building has a Moorish look to it with its round arched windows and richly decorated geometric ornamentation around the windows, under the roof, and on the walls. A majority of the windows have ledges and some have window wells where plants are grown. There is a short tower on the left corner of the building. A sign in the center of the roof displays the schools name. Trees, plants and utility poles line the sidewalk. Streetcar tracks line the dirt road in front of the school. Legible signs include: on a street sign "L.A. School of Art & Design, enter 6th Street", "for rent 6 rooms, superior flats, on first and second floor, apply on premises", "for rent, inquire within", "suits made to order, cleaning and repairing", "[...]era cloak & dresses cleaned", "badger, toilet[...], parlors".
