General Benedicto Lucas García, Chief of Staff of the Guatemalan military walks with a fellow officer, who is armed with an AR-15 rifle of U.S. origin. Both men are wearing hats and watches. Both military officers are in charge of counter-insurgency. Lucas García was found responsible for crimes against humanity, aggravated sexual violence, and enforced disappearance by the Guatemalan court of high-risk crimes. On May 23, 2018, he was sentenced to 58 years of prison for these charges. El general Benedicto Lucas García, jefe del estado mayor del ejército guatemalteco, camina con un oficial en la base militar de Santa Cruz del Quiché. El oficial porta un fusil AR-15 de origen estadounidense. Los dos hombres portan gorros. Ambos oficiales militares están a cargo de la contrainsurgencia. Lucas García fue encontrado responsable de crímenes de lesa humanidad, violencia sexual agravada y desaparición forzada por el Juzgado de Mayor Riesgo de Guatemala.
