Description
"Interior of Motee Musjid [Moti Mosque], Agra. 1229" Interior view of the Moti Mosque showing the prayer hall with its series of archways and columns. The interior is decorated in white marble and with areas of floral reliefs. The Moti Mosque, also known as the Pearl Mosque, is one of several buildings situated inside the Red Fort at Agra and was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The mosque is considerably larger than its counterpart at Delhi Fort. ❧ This is one of a series of photographs contained in an album showing popular tourist attractions in India, the album was owned by an unknown Church of Scotland missionary who had probably taken the tour whilst working out in the region. Unfortunately there is very little information with the photographs as to there ownership.
