Photograph article dated February 9, 1962 partially reads, "A 7-year-old Canoga Park boy was drowned today after he was swept into a rain-swollen Los Angeles River wash and dragged three and a half miles before he could be pulled out. The boy was identified as Charles Edward Hibbs Jr., son of Charles and Hazel Hibbs, 6573 Kelvin Ave. He reportedly fell into the water while playing near Mason avenue and Vanowen street." Photograph caption reads, "Sampson, Land take body to hospital. Fireman waded into wash to grab the boy."; See image #00130769 for additional photo in this series.
