1 column, 27 lines written on recto across the fibers.
Regular cursive.
Left margin: 3.5 cm.
Papyrus is much damaged.
Number "38" written in red ink in left margin.
Menches informs Horos that the oil-seller of Kerkeosiris had discovered that oil (a state monopoly) was being smuggled, appending a copy of the petition from the oil-seller (Apollodoros) to Menches. The letter is dated to the 4th year of Polemy IX Soter II, the 14th of the Egyptian month Mecheir (Mar. 2, 113 B.C.)
