Description
"225. A street in Chinatown, L.A.", photograph, by Frank L. Park, Los Angeles, circa 1898. The view is from the middle of a dirt street, perhaps Apablasa Street, looking westward. Densely, tightly packed one and two-story wood and brick buildings line both sides of the street, the north side of which has electric poles at intervals. Some structures have banner-like signs with Chinese lettering on them. In the distance in the Plaza Church and atop Fort Moore or Poundcake Hill is the county courthouse. The caption is in white on the bottom edge of the image, whjich is mounted on green board. The photo has minor scratches and stains and part of the left corner is dented, while the board has minor wear, so the overall condition is good.
