Christmas performances and decorations were aplenty at the new L.A. City Hall as part of the "Christmas Outdoors" activities promoted by the L.A. Chamber of Commerce. Two large Christmas trees were placed on either side of the main entrance and sign over it (not visible at this angle) read "Peace on Earth, Good Will toward Men". Dozens of performers stand along the stairs, some blowing horns, while others watched. For decades, no building in Los Angeles was allowed to exceed the height of City Hall, until 1957. It remained the tallest building in California from 1928-1964 at 28 stories tall (450 feet). The building was completed in 1928, and first dedicated on April 27th of the same year. Associated architects were: John C. Austin, John and Donald Parkinson, and Albert C. Martin. It was built from 1926-28.
