Description
John Dillenberger (1918–2008) served first as Dean of the Graduate Theological Union from 1964-1969 and then as its first president from 1967-1972, a post to which he returned in 1999-2000. Dillenberger's teaching career included four years as an associate professor of religion at Columbia University in the early 1950s, followed by four years at Harvard Divinity School. He also taught at Drew University in New Jersey before joining Graduate Theological Union.
