Mrs. Hewitt T. Wheless, wife of bomber hero pilot Captain Hewitt T. Wheless, personally cited by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and winner of the Distinguished Service Cross, serves her famous husband coffee and donuts at the USO Hollywood Center. The captain and his wife, in company with James A. McCaffrey, Los Angeles campaign chairman, made a tour of USO centers in the metropolitan area in May 1942, where he told of his exploits in combat to other servicemen around him.
