The younger man is wearing a jacket and a hat. The women and girls are wearing dresses. One women is holding a baby in her arms. Johannes Nakin was born in 1833 in Silo. Being trained as a teacher in Genadenthal he began his missionary work in South Africa East in 1870. In 1878 he married Emma Nakin. In 1883 he became the first indigenous pastor in South Africa East. He died in Emtumasi in 1903.
