Photograph article dated February 1, 1963 partially reads, "A North Hollywood businessman says he will formally protest to elected officials that the area near Saticoy St. and Laurel Canyon Blvd. has been 'left to die' in the rush to complete the Laurel Canyon - Sherman Way underpass. John C. Weghorst Jr., a service station owner at 7600 Laurel Canyon Blvd., contends the business district north of Sherman Way has been hardest hit by the closure of the intersection and nothing has been done to relieve the area... Weghorst charged that there has been a display of favoritism in the opening of traffic to and from the Valley Plaza area while the $4 million grade separation is still under construction."
