Description
The Elsie M. Castner Oral History Project was made possible by grants from the estates of Robert F. Cocklin, Ruth Castner Cocklin and others. The Dixon Public Library undertook this project in 1998 with the assistance of Chris Castaneda from CSU, Sacramento. The oral history of long-time resident Letty Mace is a record of her memories about growing up in the Batavia area of rural Dixon, CA. Her stories relate to the economic development of agriculture and ranching in early California communities. She is a descendant of the pioneer families that settled in northern Solano County before the town of Dixon was established in 1868.
