Description
Photograph snipe dated September 15, 1951 reads, "Eastern-Columbia's main floor 'freewat,' a new block-ling shopping aisle running from Broadway to Hill Street." Eastern and Columbia Outfitters Co., had purchased the building in 1944 and remodeled it as a way to expand the retail space of the main building.
