Description
Photograph of a walnut grove of J.D. Durfee, El Monte(?), California, ca.1910. The ground is littered with leaves. A large pile of branches stripped of leaves and other hanging branches, stand horizontally behind the large walnut tree near the foreground. At left, a man stands near the trunk of the large walnut tree holding on to a string (or measuring tape?). At right, another man stands close to the end of a long horizontally displaced branch that's held up by a forked prop. The men appear to be measuring the horizontal branch.
