“Part of Hospital from above with Miss Clark Wilson who was nursing sister at Chogoria 1939-1942.” Exterior view of the hospital with nurses and dressers standing outside. The new block is on the left and comprises of two wards, operating theatre and a dispensary. Sister Jean Clark Wilson was the granddaughter of Rev. Dr Youngson, of the Punjab, and the niece of Rev. James Youngson, of Kikuyu. Whilst at Chogoria she started training female nurses and changed the staff uniforms from khaki to white. ❧ The image is from the collection of Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) showing the period from 1928-1947 at the Chogoria mission which was established near Mt Kenya, in 1922, and run by Dr Irvine.
