Description: A split image postcard: on the bottom, an exterior view of the Hotel Vendome sitting on landscaped grounds; on the upper right, an interior view of the hotel lobby; on the upper left, an interior view of the hotel parlor. The hotel's public rooms were luxuriously furnished and carpeted." The hotel was built in 1889 on the 11-acre estate of Josiah Belden, an early mayor of San Jose. At the time it was the most luxurious hotel in San Jose. The hotel was demolished in 1930 and replaced by houses.
