A large crowd attends Pope John Paul II's visit to Nicaragua at Plaza 19 de Julio in March 1983. Many in the crowd are holding the red-and-black flag of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), the yellow-and-white flag of the Vatican City, and the blue-and-white flag of Nicaragua. In the background there is a large mural of Pope John Paul II smiling with open and extended arms.
