Used in the Exhibit: Play by Play - A Century of L.A. Sports Photography, 1889-1989; Photograph included in the Exhibit: The Industry in Our Backyard: Television Production in Los Angeles 1940s-1980s. Billy Dee Williams (left) and Chicago Bears running back Gale Sayers during the making of "Brian's Song." The highly-acclaimed TV movie documented the relationship between Sayers (played by Williams) and teammate Brian Piccolo (James Caan) as Sayers watched Piccolo succumb to cancer. "Brian's Song" remains one of the great tear-jerker sports films, on par with "Bang the Drum Slowly" and "Pride of the Yankees." Photo dated: October 12, 1971.
