Photograph was edited for publication purposes Originally known as the Hebrew Sheltering Home for the Aged, the Jewish Home for the Aging was founded in Boyle Heights in 1912. About four years later, the Home's first permanent facility was built on Boyle Avenue, where it existed for decades. In 1967, acreage in Reseda was purchased and a facility was built on Victory Boulevard. A merger in 1979 with the Menorah Village created a second campus on Tampa Avenue in Reseda. Photograph article dated November 10, 1964 partially reads, "Mrs. Anna Grancell, 81-year-old philanthropist, a founder of Temple Menorah of Redondo Beach and honorary president of the California Home for the Aged of Reseda, has been honored by the 6,000-member Los Angeles Chapter of Hadassah. A plaque presented by the Zionist women's organization, 624 S. La Brea Ave., lauds Mrs. Grancell as a life member and 'triple founder' of the chapter and one of its 'grand ladies of philanthropy.'" Photograph caption reads, "Benefactor greeted - Mrs. Anna Grancell, 82, recipient of a plaque from Los Angeles Chapter of Hadassah for her benefactions to the Hadassah - Hebrew University Medical Center, Israel, is greeted by Dr. Kalman J. Mann, director-general of the medical group."
