Description
Architect Archibald Gibbs designed the 1926 Carthay Circle Theatre, located at 6316 San Vicente Boulevard, in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style with Streamline Moderne influences. Fox-West Coast Theatres took over operation of the theatre in 1929. The theater was home to many premieres before it closed in 1969. It was demolished in the early 1970s.; The 'Pioneer Fountain Group' statue, also known as the Daniel O. McCarthy Pioneer Fountain, or the Miner's Statue, honors the memory of the California Pioneers of '49'.
An aerial view of the Carthay Circle Theatre and its surroundings. The 'Pioneer Fountain Group' statue, also known as the Daniel O. McCarthy Pioneer Fountain, or the Miner's Statue, is present in the center.
