Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia looking from the west arch and taken by photographer Edward Vischer, San Diego, before 1875. The portico and the mission's main adobe building with its bell tower are visible behind a man in a small-brimmed hat that stands to the left of center with his hands in his vest pockets. The grass underneath him seems dry and unkempt. Arabesque decoration tops the portico while the side of the archway is partially visible in the extreme right foreground.
