Photograph article dated December 2, 1961 partially reads, "The body of a 46-year-old Burbank pilot was removed by helicopter today from a steep mountain slope five miles east of Newhall where his plane crashed Wednesday afternoon. A Los Angeles county Sheriff's search party located the body of William Evans, 342 Kenwood St., at the crash site about 3,500 feet up the side of Los Pinetos Peak, near an Army Nike missile base. His shattered wrist watch had stopped at 3:15. The wrecked plane was a two-engine Beechcraft Travelair owned by the Morrison - Knudsen Co. Inc., a heavy construction firm, of Boise, Idaho. A company spokesman said Evans was alone on a flight from Ephrata, Wash., to Van Nuys via Palmdale." Photograph caption reads, "Search party arrives at wreckage of twin-engine plane - Charles William Evans, Burbank, died in the crash near Newhall Wednesday."
