Video is divided into two different sections: New prisons occupied and New Prisons vacant. New Prisons Occupied: Folsom: External shot of prison from guard tower, cell door control panel, day-use room with guard overlooking from control room, recreation yard. Jamestown: external shot of prison from hilltop. Susanville: basketball courts, external view, running track, day-use room, inmates working on puzzle, handball court. Avenal: long shot of prison, prisoners in day-use room and playing basketball. Tehachapi: long shot of prison, prisoners playing handball, guard watching from tower, free weight area in recreation yard, prisoners sewing (repairing clothing?) and cooking. Vacaville: Long shot of prison, machine shop, recreation yard with track, free weight area, and basketball courts. New Prisons Vacant: San Diego: aerial shot of prison, day-use room, cells. Stockton: long shot of yard and various buildings, day-use room, guard station with control board.Additional Descriptive Notes: Depicts the various stages of the prison construction process. Also documents what appears to be the groundbreaking ceremony of a State Prison (possibly Avenal).
