Group photograph of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence members, Ted Sahl Collection, MSS 1996-03-01 San Jose State University Library Special Collections & Archives. The San Francisco Order is the largest and oldest Order in the world. Starting in 1979 with just four nuns, according to their bio, they are now over 50 members strong. The Sisters are made up of a very unique group of people who are as varied and interesting as their names. One of their greatest strengths is their diversity of perspective; each member brings their own interests, drives and passions to the whole, making them all stronger. Unlike more traditional nuns, they are an Order of many faiths, religions and beliefs. However they are all united by the vows that each of them take: to promulgate universal joy, expiate stigmatic guilt and serve the community, other fellow Sisters and the Order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. http://www.thesisters.org/world_orders.html Scanned with Microtek Scanmaker 1000XL Pro; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 8-bit Grayscale.
