V1p143c In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 143 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." "28" printed on photo. Text written under photo: "Lincoln Grammer [sic] School. Metropolitan Temple. Fifth Street 1888." View is of the east side of Fifth Street between Market and Mission. The three-story Lincoln School and the elaborate Metropolitan Temple dominate the street. At the corner of Fifth and Jessie a horse-drawn coach is parked by the curb. A policeman is standing at the corner, and someone is lounging against the wall of the saloon nearby. Two crates are on the sidewalk in front of the Metroplitan Temple.
